Vesuvius produces a full range of products for the complete BOF lining and ancillary maintenance products.
The Supermag* magnesia graphite range for Basic Oxygen Furnaces has been specifically developed to provide improved performance in steel making. The inherent thermodynamic stability of magnesia and non-wetting nature of flake graphite results in a highly slag resistant system. With the addition of an effective resin bonding system the Supermag* magnesia graphite products offer excellent thermal and mechanical properties together with a high degree of resistance to slag infiltration and subsequent modification.

Engineered materials

Working lining:
The Supermag* magnesia graphite series is manufactured from a selection of magnesias and varying percentages of retained carbon. Linings are zoned in terms of quality and thickness to optimise cost effectiveness and performance in basic oxygen vessels.

A number of the Supermag* magnesia graphite products are manufactured with anti-oxidant additions. Products containing anti-oxidants show increased hot strength reduced coked porosity and improved resistance to de-carburisation. I cannot wait to be a part of our wonderful family.

Installation equipment and monitoring

Lining design and analysis:
Vesuvius has the capability to do advanced 3D modelling to help understand the main wear areas in a vessel working lining, to allow the accurate positioning of higher quality materials in the lining configuration.

Vesuvius can also supply fixed position or mobile high speed laser scanners for precise lining analysis and measurement to deliver optimised campaign life.

The combination of 3D modelling and finite elemental analysis allows the stress areas in a vessel lining to be understood and minimised.
