3.7 million $ waste reduction in a Mini Mill
Elby ladle bottom designed for a 1.4 MT/yr mini mill allows to save 3.7 million dollars per year or 0.6% of profit margin gain.
In a Mini Mill producing rails and structural steel with a 120 T ladle operating 12,000 heats per annum, the Elby precast ladle bottom specifically designed for this plant allows to recover 0.7 T more steel per heat, avoiding any good metal to stay in the ladle after pouring.
Elby increases by 8,500 T the tonnage of good steel produced per annum at no additional cost. In addition, it saves 300,000 $ per annum of energy for remelting the scrap.
